Job summary

Harmonics Recruitment's client in Limerick is seeking a Degree-qualified Structural Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team on a range of CAPEX and OPEX projects aimed at safety, environmental, and production improvements.

You will lead design development, asset inspections, risk assessments, budgets, and liaise with contractors to ensure timely, cost-effective construction of structural scopes.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified Structural Engineer with strong knowledge of structures.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as a structural design engineer.
• Experience examining existing steel structures and reverse engineering for repairs/strengthening.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the project team to agree design briefs and schedules for capital and expense projects.
• Carries out asset inspections and appraisals of plant structures and infrastructure.
• Prepares concept designs, risk assessments and budget estimates for structures.
• Responds to requests for technical support including repairs, strengthening and retrofitting.
• Develops structural design solutions, details and general arrangement drawings for tender and construction works.
• Coordinates with Electrical or Mechanical engineering support when needed.
• Specifies and procures materials for the project.
• Prepares detailed scopes of work and preliminary health and safety plans.
• Liaises with the Project Supervisor for the Constructions Stage and contractors to ensure safe, timely and cost-effective implementation of the structural scopes.
• Reports regularly on project status, schedule and budget.

About the job Project Engineer - Structural

Our client, based in Limerick, is one of the leading industrial plants in Ireland, and they are seeking a Project Engineer to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will be working as part of a multidiscipline engineering department, This position will provide the candidate with the opportunity to work on a wide range of CAPEX and OPEX projects, which enable safety, environment, and production improvements to the process plant.

The Role:

• Collaborates with the project team to agree the design brief and schedule for a range of capital and expense projects
• Carries out asset inspections and appraisals of the plant structures and infrastructure including developing reports and recommendations for asset integrity projects
• Prepares concept designs, risk assessments and develop budget estimates for new and existing structures
• Responds to plant requests for technical support, including structural repairs, strengthening and/or retrofitting projects
• Develops structural design solutions, details and general arrangement drawings for tender and construction works
• Enlists the assistance of Electrical or Mechanical engineering support where required
• Specifies and procures, where required, materials for the project
• Prepares detailed scopes of work, preliminary health and safety plans to implement the project
• Liaises with the Project Supervisor for the Constructions Stage and contractors during construction to ensure safe, timely and cost-effective implementation of the structural scopes
• Reports regularly on project status, schedule and budget.
• Degree qualified Structural engineer with technically sound knowledge and understanding of structures
• Minimum 5 years experience working as a structural design engineer
• Experience in examining existing steel structures, including reverse engineering and/or generating practical design solutions for structural repairs/strengthening and/or mechanical and electrical installations
