Job summary

Veolia Group Ireland is seeking a Project Engineer (Mechanical) for our Water division in Kilkenny. The role involves coordinating a multi-disciplinary team on water and wastewater projects across Ireland, from early design through to delivery.

You will liaise with Project Managers, manage subcontractors, and ensure on-time, on-budget performance. The successful candidate will contribute to regulatory documentation, health & safety standards, and client submissions, with a mix of office,

Qualifications

  • Minimum NFQ Level 7 degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred) or science.
  • Experience in project teams from design through delivery stages.
  • Ability to manage design/site activities and coordinate multiple disciplines.

Project Engineer (Mechanical)

Location: Kilkenny

Duration: Permanent

Work Hours/Schedule: Role will be mix of office/site based and WFH - Monday to Friday role

Overview of the Role

Due to continued success and growth across the Water division, we are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking individual to join the ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) Team as a Project Engineer. The successful candidate will work on a wide scope of Water and Wastewater Treatment projects across the Island of Ireland. The successful candidate will work alongside the Project Manager in coordinating a multi disciplined team to include process/mechanical/civil/structural/electrical work associated with various Water and Wastewater Treatment projects across the Island of Ireland. The Project Engineer will have responsibility for assisting in the design development of the water and wastewater treatment contracts from early design /concept stage through to detailed design stage and onto delivery / construction stage. Collaborating with the Project Manager in the preparation of delivery documentation for client submissions including technical submissions, managing sub-consultant submissions (incl planning), preparing regulatory Health & Safety documentation, detailed design packages, tendering documentation and construction design packages. During delivery stage the Project Engineer will liaise with design teams and suppliers, manage subcontractors, installation personnel and commissioning teams to ensure that projects are delivered on schedule and within budget. Ensure, all equipment is sized, procured, delivered, installed, tested and ultimately commissioned in accordance with contractual requirements.

Day to Day of the Role
  • Take ownership of delegated projects and project issues
  • Ensure thorough knowledge and understanding of the contract for all assigned projects
  • Evaluation of Client Specifications as well as liaising with Client and Client Representatives
  • Communicate with the Project Manager, Design Leads and Sub-Consultants during the execution of the project
  • Interact with our multi-disciplined engineering team, partaking in the final design, equipment selection and procurement activities
  • Organising, co-coordinating and managing design activities while maintaining H&S in line with Veolia standards
  • Managing aspects of the project within defined budgets and agreed timelines through monitoring and tracking for adherence with the project brief and programme
  • Apply procedures in place related to contract execution
Required Skills for the Role
  • Minimum NFQ Level 7 degree in an Engineering (Mechanical Engineering Degree is preferable) and/or Science Discipline
  • Practical site experience (Desired)
  • Practical experience in being part of a project team from initial stages to delivery stage
  • Managing design/site activities including team coordination
  • Ability to work on own initiative and effectively manage & coordinate design /site activities
  • Experience in the execution of water/wastewater engineering projects is desirable
  • IT skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Power Point
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Strong communication and writing skills
