Job summary

Matchtech Group is seeking a Project Director for a leading rail and transportation engineering consultancy. The role is based in Dublin, Dundalk, Cork or Galway, with responsibility for guiding major multi-disciplinary railway infrastructure projects from concept through construction.

You will direct multi-disciplinary teams, lead bids, manage client relationships and collaborate with senior leadership to deliver innovative, high-quality design and delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in civil engineering or related field.
• Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.
• Significant consultancy experience delivering multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
• Strong rail sector understanding from concept to construction.
• Experience managing contracts as an Employer's Representative or NEC Project Manager.

Responsibilities

• Act as Project Manager on major railway infrastructure schemes.

Job description

Our client, a leading engineering consultancy in the rail and transportation sector, is seeking a Project Director to join its team in Dublin, Dundalk, Cork or Galway. This permanent role offers the opportunity to lead major, multi-disciplinary railway infrastructure projects from concept and detailed design through to construction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Directing and managing multi-disciplinary rail and transportation projects
• Acting as Project Manager on major railway infrastructure schemes
• Managing contracts and commercial matters on behalf of clients
• Working closely with Engineering Directors and Managers to oversee successful design delivery
• Leading and mentoring project management and technical staff, including Senior Project Managers
• Developing tender proposals, leading bids and supporting the growth of new client commissions

Job Requirements:

• Degree-level qualification in civil engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Ireland or an equivalent professional institution
• Significant experience in a consultancy environment, delivering multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects in Ireland or the UK
• Strong understanding of the rail sector and the full project life cycle, from concept through to construction
• Experience managing contracts as an Employer's Representative or NEC Project Manager
• Ability to manage multi-disciplinary design teams and collaborate effectively with clients, delivery partners and colleagues
• Commercial awareness, including experience in tender preparation, bid leadership and client relationship development
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with the confidence to challenge established approaches and develop innovative solutions
