Job summary

Kirby Group Engineering is seeking a senior engineering professional to lead cross-functional teams in delivering large datacenter projects, including Design & Build and Design/Bid/Build. Based in Ireland, you will drive technical direction, ensure safety and quality, and manage budgets and schedules with clients and partners.

The role requires 5–10+ years in data center projects, strong communication and leadership, proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit/Navisworks, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
• Proficiency in English for business operations and communications.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams of engineers in advanced design and construction processes for large datacenters.
• Deliver projects on time, safely, to budget, and to required quality.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners in a fast-paced environment.
• Prepare and present using MS Office packages.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

• The candidate must have excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Candidates must possess a high level of proficiency in commercial and industrial architecture and engineering with a primary focus on datacenter design.
• The candidates must also be able to work with other technical and non-technical groups in a fast- paced environment and do so with an even temperament.
• The candidate must be a person of integrity, be methodical, detailed-oriented with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to lead teams of engineers in advanced engineering and construction processes and procedures as they relate to large datacenter environments
• Contract negotiation skills with solid understanding of value-added ideas without compromising safety and quality of deliverables
• Ability to get things done in fast-paced environment; not easily discouraged; forward looking with open mindset
• Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and jurisdictional standards
• Ability to prepare and present using MS office packages
• Computer literate in the use of AutoCAD and Revit/Navisworks
• Able to travel domestically and internationally
• Large scale project experience (100M per project) delivering Design & Build, and Design/Bid/Build type projects
• Demonstrate a good track record in data centre / mission critical section (typically 5-10 years of experience).
• Direct design and/or commissioning experience (typically 5-10 years of experience).
• Excellent understanding of advanced electrical, mechanical, security/monitoring, and fire detection/suppression systems.
• Comprehensive knowledge of standard practices in the design and construction industry.
• General knowledge of design and construction terms and principles and contracts.
• Familiarity with basic building code requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree AND experience in engineering, project/technical program management OR equivalent experience.
• Experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
• This role requires proficiency in written, reading, and conversational English as all business operations as well as customer communications are conducted in English.
