Job summary

The Irish Wheelchair Association invites applications for a 12-month fixed-term position as Programme Assistant/Driver for the Holiday Services, based at Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe. The role is 20 hours per week and focuses on providing personal and activity-based assistance to service users to promote independence within the local community.

Applicants should hold a QQI Major Award in Healthcare Support (Level 5) and possess a full clean driving licence.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with people with disabilities is essential.
• Understanding of the social model of disability and person-centred planning an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal and activity-based assistance to Holiday Service users to enhance independence, dignity and self-esteem.
• Build strong relationships with team members and service users; work as part of a team and on own initiative.
• Deliver high-quality customer service and support in a community setting.
