Position Overview

The Scientist I has the primary responsibility for conducting research tasks with guidance from more senior colleagues.

Primary Responsibilities

Produce bulk cyanoacrylate according to established standards and guidelines.

Handle laboratory equipment and supplies safely and effectively.

Document laboratory activities for reference purposes.

Monitor and report progress of analytical tests to Head of Laboratory on a regular basis.

Work with Head of Laboratory to set objectives and milestones.

Coordinate, prioritise and plan lab tasks to meet deadlines.

Perform routine QC testing as part of shelf life studies.

Ensure final product meets quality and customer specifications.

Maintain sufficient stock of chemicals and supplies to perform lab experiments.

Ensure that materials are labelled properly and used in right quantities.

Investigate issues, analyse root causes and define resolutions.

Suggest improvements for test procedures to achieve project objectives.

Develop standard procedures to improve quality and efficiency.

Environmental monitoring as required for Cleanroom area.

Conduct chemical synthesis as required by the business.

Perform and assist with research activities in the laboratory, as required.

Perform Validation activities, as required.

Adherence to the Quality system, with a particular emphasis on GMP/GDP/GLP

Third level degree in a science or engineering discipline

0 – 3 years’ experience in Pharmaceutical or Medical Device industry

Communication and organisation skills

Self-starter with the ability to work in teams and on own initiative as required

Open to cross training across different functional areas of the business

Preferred Requirements

Previous experience in gas chromatography and moisture titration

Previous experience in analytic chemistry
