Job summary

Cairn Homes PLC in Ireland seeks a high-calibre Procurement Manager to support strategic sourcing and supplier management in the Group Procurement Function. You will report to the Head of Procurement and drive category planning, process improvements and digital procurement initiatives.

You will lead cross-functional teams, develop long-term objectives and monitor market trends to deliver value through cost savings and continuous improvement while mentoring junior team members and ensuring timely

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction, QS, supply chain or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years in construction, QS or procurement with focus on strategic sourcing and supplier management.
  • CIPS certification or equivalent desirable.
  • Proven experience identifying and realizing strategic opportunities within the supply chain.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, category management and strategic sourcing methodologies.
  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills with a track record of cost savings and value-added outcomes.
  • Analytical thinker with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to influence at all levels; strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient IT skills with Excel and PowerPoint; experience with eProcurement tools.
  • Willingness to attend training and CPD; good interpersonal skills and teamwork.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work on own initiative and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop long-term strategic procurement objectives and enable execution.
  • Identify improvements to procurement processes and support broader team strategy.
  • Work cross-functionally to drive efficiencies in procurement.
  • Develop strategic procurement content and reporting for communication and delivery.
  • Support rollout of digital procurement strategy and evolve it.
  • Develop Cairn's Responsible Sourcing Programme with stakeholders.
  • Monitor market trends and identify strategic initiatives.
  • Lead Category Planning for key sub-contract packages to manage risks and opportunities.
  • Cultivate relationships with strategic supply chain partners to drive innovation.
  • Track and report industry trends and Cairn inflation tracker.
  • Drive innovation and participate in comparative analyses.
  • Lead and manage direct reports with clear objectives and feedback.
  • Contribute to broader data analysis and reporting goals.

Job description

Cairn has a unique opportunity for a high calibre Procurement Manager to support a range of commercial activity in the Group Procurement Function. Key responsibilities

Typically the candidate will be expected to undertake and assist with the following duties:

  • Support with the development of long-term strategic procurement objectives and be a key enabler to the successful execution of these strategic objectives.
  • Identify and champion improvements to current procurement processes while contributing to the wider Procurement team strategy.
  • Working cross functionally, identify areas for more efficient and effective procurement across the organisation and support the realisation of these efficiencies.
  • Develop strategic procurement content and reporting to support the communication and delivery of procurement activity.
  • Support the role out and continued development of our digital procurement strategy.
  • Working across stakeholder groups, support in the development and evolution of Cairns Responsible Sourcing Programme.
  • Monitor and report on market trends, industry best practices, innovation and technological advancements to proactively identify potential strategic initiatives.
  • Lead the development of Category Planning frameworks for Key Sub-Contract Packages to identify and manage risks and opportunities within the supply chain.
  • Cultivate and mange relationships with existing and new strategic supply chain partners to drive innovation and value for the business.
  • Track and report on wider industry commercial trends and oversee the management of the Cairn inflation tracker.
  • Have a strong innovation focus, including looking at new products and technologies and participating in the comparative analysis processes.
  • Lead and manage direct reports, setting objectives and providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
  • Be a driving force behind broader data analysis and reporting objectives of the Procurement team
The candidate;
  • Bachelor's degree in construction, Quantity Surveying (QS), supply chain management, Business or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in construction, Quantity Surveying (QS), or procurement, with a focus on strategic sourcing and supplier management.
  • Professional certifications such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in identifying and realizing strategic opportunities within the supply chain.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, category management, and strategic sourcing methodologies.
  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills, with a track record of achieving cost savings and value-added outcomes.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to influence at all levels.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • An ability to achieve demanding time and quality targets.
  • Good IT skills with competency in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint and experience with eProcurement tools.
  • A willingness to attend training and to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and work as part of a team
  • To be self-motivated with ability to work on own initiative
  • To be able to co-ordinate a number of different tasks at the same time.
  • To be willing to accept overall project responsibility
  • Additional tasks will be allocated to reflect increasing levels of development and experience.
