About Your New Job
  • Research new materials technologies to provide possible cost reductions, performance improvements, capacity increases, and enable the development of new products.
  • Provide chemical and polymeric materials support to refine existing products or troubleshoot problems with existing processes.
  • Work with internal and external customers to develop needed materials.
  • Evaluate work results, analyze causes for variances, and recommend courses of action.
  • May supervise the work of engineers/technicians or others who assist in specific assignments and work jointly with other engineers and the Value Stream technical team.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard technical techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Investigate a moderate number of technical variables in completing assignments with clear and defined objectives.
  • Develop test methods to verify hypotheses of chemical and materials technologies and predict performance of polymeric materials, products, and technologies.
  • Work independently on standard projects and receive assistance on unusual problems. Perform work of higher technical level for continuing training purposes.
  • Special Projects: Work on special projects, write ECNs, and create prototypes under broad direction. May have authority over NCMRs.
What Skills You Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Ability to apply analytical skills and scientific technical principles in problem-solving and development.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, preferably with spreadsheets, word processing, database, and other applicable software programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member.
