Job summary

Mayo, Ireland-based pharmaceutical manufacturing site seeks an experienced Process Scientist to join a highly collaborative team. The role spans technology transfer, launch readiness, manufacturing support and process improvement with exposure to cross-functional and global teams.

You will provide technical leadership across the product lifecycle, from transfer and launch through ongoing manufacturing and portfolio changes, helping introduce new products and improve established processes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Engineering, or related discipline; Master's or PhD preferred.
• Strong pharmaceutical manufacturing/process science/technical operations background, 6+ years.
• Proven end-to-end experience in technology transfer and commercial product launch.

Responsibilities

• Lead technology transfer and product launch activities with manufacturing readiness and milestones.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot complex process issues.
• Lead manufacturing investigations using data-driven root cause analysis.
• Own technical projects on process improvement, validation, cost improvement, and manufacturing tech changes.
• Support portfolio changes such as raw materials, supplier, and batch size changes.
• Represent site in regulatory inspections, GMP audits, and customer-facing technical discussions.
• Collaborate with Engineering on equipment commissioning and qualification.
• Contribute to process safety, digitalisation and manufacturing performance improvements.
• Share technical knowledge within the wider team.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Process Scientist to join a highly collaborative team at a leading global pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Mayo

The role offers the opportunity to work on products that are supplied to patients across global markets.

This is a technically diverse position combining product transfer, launch readiness, manufacturing support and process improvement, with significant exposure to cross-functional and global teams.

The Role

You will provide technical leadership across the product lifecycle, from technology transfer and launch through to ongoing manufacturing and portfolio changes.

Working closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, R&D, Global Technical teams, Commercial and Regulatory functions, you will help ensure new products are successfully introduced into manufacturing while supporting the performance and continuous improvement of established processes.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

• Leading technology transfer and product launch activities, ensuring manufacturing readiness and delivery against project milestones.
• Providing technical support, including troubleshooting complex process issues.
• Leading significant manufacturing investigations, using data-driven root cause analysis to identify and implement effective solutions.
• Taking ownership of technical projects covering process improvement, validation, cost improvement and manufacturing technology changes.
• Supporting portfolio changes such as raw material, supplier, batch size and technology changes.
• Representing the site in regulatory inspections, GMP audits and customer-facing technical discussions where required.
• Working with Engineering to support equipment commissioning and qualification activities.
• Contributing to process safety, digitalisation and ongoing manufacturing performance improvement.
• Providing technical leadership and knowledge sharing within the wider team.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in:

• Product transfer and launch readiness within a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Sterile or ophthalmic manufacturing, implants or related medical device processes.
• Leading complex investigations, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Managing technical projects and influencing cross-functional teams.
• Process validation, continuous improvement, cost improvement or manufacturing technology changes.
• Working with Quality, Engineering, R&D, Regulatory and global technical functions.
• Supporting regulatory inspections, audits or customer-facing technical engagements.

You will need to be confident operating in a fast-paced environment, able to manage competing priorities and capable of communicating complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
