Job Description

This is a full‑time, permanent position. Shift work is required. Working a biweekly rotating shift pattern: all shifts 14:00 – 02:00. Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Week 2: Wednesday & Thursday. OR Week 1: 02:00 – 14:00 Monday & Tuesday then 08:00 – 20:00 Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Week 2: 14:00 – 02:00 Wednesday & Thursday.

As a Process Science Shift Team Lead you will lead a Professional Scientific Services (PSS) team of Process Science laboratory technicians to ensure the team operates at the highest quality and productivity standards, maintains high morale and retention, and satisfies client requirements. The role involves effective leadership and quality operational management to meet or exceed client expectations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and lead the PSS team in partnership with the PSS Group Lead, ensuring productivity, quality, documentation, work scheduling, safety and housekeeping are delivered at maximum efficiency across all activities.
  • Ensure the client receives exceptional service by continually reviewing best practice, maintaining full GMP compliance, and upholding the highest ethical and quality standards throughout all laboratory and operational work.
  • Support the development, coaching and motivation of team members by driving effective communication, structured performance management, and recognition of achievements to promote strong engagement and team success.
  • Take responsibility for reviewing and approving technical documentation, completing quality‑risk assessments, initiating and investigating non‑compliances, and ensuring all records and actions are accurate, timely and fully traceable.
  • Oversee training, performance reviews and competency development for analysts, ensuring cross‑training, resource planning, and operational readiness are maintained in line with client expectations and service‑level requirements.
  • Ensure laboratory operations run smoothly by maintaining equipment, managing supplies, supporting audits, resolving customer queries, improving work practices, and upholding a safe, clean and compliant working environment.
Qualifications
  • Hold a relevant qualification, with at least a degree in a suitable scientific or technical discipline, providing the foundational knowledge required to operate effectively within a regulated laboratory or operational environment.
  • Have experience creating strong working relationships to enhance internal support networks, sharing information effectively, and contributing to the exchange of ideas, plans, and strategies across teams and stakeholders.
