Job summary

RINA is seeking a freelance Principal Signalling Engineer to provide signalling engineering expertise, design assurance, systems integration support, technical governance and commissioning advice across railway modernisation and infrastructure programmes in Ireland.

The assignment is expected to run for up to 24 months and will be delivered through a blended working model, comprising approximately 50% attendance in Ireland and 50% remote working, according to programme requirements.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering (or equivalent).
  • At least 10 years’ railway signalling experience.
  • Strong knowledge of signalling principles, standards and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support signalling design review, assurance, integration, testing and commissioning.
  • Provide technical governance, reporting and engineering advice across programmes.
  • Coordinate interfaces with telecommunications, power, rolling stock and operations.

RINA is seeking a freelance/independent Principal Signalling Engineer to provide signalling engineering expertise, design assurance, systems integration support, technical governance and commissioning advice across railway modernisation and infrastructure programmes in Ireland.

The assignment is expected to run for a period of up to 24 months and will be delivered through a blended working model, comprising approximately 50% attendance in Ireland and 50% remote working, according to programme requirements.

The role supports signalling design review, assurance, integration, testing and operational introduction, covering signalling principles, interlocking, train detection, control systems and interfaces with telecommunications, power, rolling stock and operations to ensure safe and compliant delivery.

Key Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering, with at least 10 years’ railway signalling engineering experience.
  • Experience in signalling design, review, assurance, integration, technical governance, testing, commissioning or migration in live railway environments.
  • Strong knowledge of signalling principles, standards, safety requirements, system interfaces and railway assurance processes.
  • Ability to support compliance assessments, requirements, specifications, engineering advice, test witnessing and technical reporting.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary railway environments, with strong stakeholder management, technical leadership and problem-solving skills. #LI-FC1
