Principal Project Manager – Civil and Environmental Engineering

Fehily Timoney and Company (FT) is one of Ireland’s largest indigenous consultancies, specialising in Sustainable Infrastructure, Circular Economy, Environment, Energy and Renewables.

FT is seeking to recruit a Principal Project Manager – Civil and Environmental Engineering to join our Circular Economy team in Cork, Carlow or Dublin. The role is ideally suited to candidates with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in the field.

The successful candidate will become part of a well-established and growing company, with the opportunity to expand their skills and gain experience across a diverse portfolio of projects. These include waste management infrastructure developments, public realm, urban development schemes and renewable energy projects.

FT offers a defined and supportive career progression pathway, with clear opportunities to advance to Associate and Director level roles.

FT’s Responsibilities
  • Lead civil and environmental design team to ensure timely, high‑quality, and cost‑effective project delivery
  • Supervise, mentor, and support the development of senior and junior staff
  • Prepare high‑standard technical reports and tender documentation
  • Plan and manage design activities in close collaboration with Project Directors
  • Ensure all work complies with internal quality assurance processes and relevant health and safety regulations
  • Coordinate effectively with other team members across disciplines
  • Manage client relationships and maintain clear, consistent project communications
Skills / Qualifications
  • Degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or related discipline, with Chartered Engineer status
  • Minimum of 15 years’ post‑graduate experience in design and project management
  • Proven track record in managing multi‑disciplinary design teams
  • Strong experience in engaging with clients, external stakeholders and sub‑consultants
  • Proficient in developing and managing project budgets
  • Energetic and driven professional with excellent communication, organisational and analytical skills
  • Adaptable and collaborative, with a strong team‑oriented approach
  • Self‑motivated and capable of working independently and efficiently
  • Willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings as required
  • Experience participating in oral hearings is desirable
