- Infrastructure Design Services is a team of Technology Architects and Engineers responsible for defining and governing the enterprise infrastructure architecture to meet application, platform, and system needs in alignment with Mastercard's operational standards and principles
- As a Lead Platform Architect, you will provide thought leadership and set the strategic direction for infrastructure architecture across multiple domains
- You will engage early in the analysis and design phases, partnering with application teams and other critical stakeholders to ensure that infrastructure and application architectures adhere to Mastercard's security, scalability, and availability standards
- The primary deliverable is the Technical Architecture Document (TAD), which articulates the end-to-end infrastructure design for complex applications, platforms, or systems
- This role demands deep expertise in internet fundamentals, including web servers, application servers, internet security, and emerging technologies. You will lead the design and delivery of enterprise-grade infrastructure solutions that meet global business, product, and service requirements
- Lead architecture for enterprise-wide initiatives spanning multiple platforms, programs, and services
- Define target-state architectures, reference patterns, and modernization roadmaps for Hybrid and Cloud infrastructure
- Architect enterprise AI platforms, including Claude Code, Amazon Bedrock, and developer AI enablement patterns
- Drive architecture reviews, design approvals, and governance across CTO, Security, SRE, and Engineering
- Establish security guardrails, resiliency standards, and cost/performance frameworks for AI and Cloud workloads
- Act as the technical escalation point for complex infrastructure and AI/Cloud decisions
- Mentor architects and engineers, publish enterprise patterns, and influence engineering strategy at scale
- Define and govern architecture for AI-enabled developer platforms including Claude Code + Bedrock integration, IDE plugins, and secure enterprise access patterns
- Architect guardrails, observability, and governance for enterprise AI consumption, including token usage, cost attribution, and model policy enforcement
- Lead Bedrock account strategy, model evaluation patterns, and onboarding experience for enterprise-ready AI code assistants
- Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure
- Design cloud-native, hybrid, and multi-region architectures across AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, and Private Cloud
- Lead workload placement, resiliency, and modernization strategy across programs
- Drive platform simplification, regional builds, and sustainability-driven footprint reduction
- Architect secure AI and Cloud solutions aligned to enterprise security frameworks
- Ensure compliance with identity, encryption, private connectivity, and auditability standards
- Partner with Security, Risk, and Compliance leaders on enterprise approvals for AI and Cloud adoption
- Mentor senior engineers and architects across the IDE community
- Publish white papers, architectural patterns, and reference designs
- Represent IDE in Guilds, executive forums, and public technical engagements
- Influence VP/SVP-level decisions on technology strategy and modernization investments
Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills Working knowledge of MCP (Model Context Protocol), RAG architectures, agentic workflows, prompt engineering Strong background in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD automation Understanding of AI governance, observability, guardrails, and responsible AI frameworks Hands-on experience with Amazon Bedrock, Claude Code, Anthropic Claude models, GitHub Copilot, Azure OpenAI Deep expertise in AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Hybrid Cloud, Networking, Compute, Storage Track record of influencing enterprise-wide technology strategy without direct authority 12-15+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure and cloud architecture Demonstrated experience leading enterprise architecture reviews, TADs, and multi-program design efforts Proven experience designing large-scale, resilient, secure enterprise platforms
