Job summary

First Konnection is seeking a Primary English Teacher / Tutor for an enrichment centre in Bugis. You will teach English to students from K2 through P6, helping them build reading, writing and language skills through structured small-group lessons.

Fresh graduates and career switchers are welcome. Training in the centre’s teaching methods will be provided, and strong English with the ability to explain concepts clearly is required.

Qualifications

• GCE O-Level English Language grade B3 or better, with supporting results.
• Strong spoken and written English, able to teach through Primary 6.
• Comfort teaching K2 children as well as primary students.
• Patience and clear explanations; follow centre methods.
• Familiar with basic digital tools and Zoom/Google workspace.

Responsibilities

First Konnection is recruiting a Primary English Teacher / Tutor for an enrichment centre in Bugis.

You will teach English to students from Kindergarten 2 (K2) through Primary 6 (P6), helping them develop their reading, writing and language skills through structured small-group lessons.

Fresh graduates, career switchers and applicants with tutoring or classroom experience are welcome. Previous teaching experience is not essential, but strong English and the ability to explain concepts clearly are required. Training in the centre’s teaching methods and systems will be provided.

What You Will Do

• Teach English lessons to students from K2 to P6.
• Explain grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension and writing concepts clearly.
• Adapt your teaching to the students’ level, including younger K2 learners.
• Manage small-group classes of up to 10 students.
• Prepare lessons, worksheets and teaching materials using the centre’s curriculum and digital tools.
• Check students’ understanding, provide constructive feedback and support their progress.
• Participate in training, follow the centre’s teaching approach and apply feedback.
• Support Maths teaching or relief coverage where suitable, based on your subject competency.

What We Are Looking For

• GCE O-Level English Language grade B3 or better, with supporting results, as the role involves teaching English.
• Strong spoken and written English, with the ability to teach through Primary 6.
• Willingness and confidence to teach K2 children as well as primary‑school students.
• Clear communication and the ability to explain concepts in different ways.
• Patience and confidence managing students’ attention and classroom behaviour.
• A teachable attitude and willingness to follow the centre’s lesson structure.
• Comfort using basic digital tools and learning the centre’s systems, including Zoom, Google tools, Word, Excel and AI‑assisted worksheet preparation.
• Ability to commit to working both Saturday and Sunday.

Maths Capability

O-Level Elementary or Additional Mathematics grade B3 or better is an advantage.

English is the priority. Applicants with strong English may still be considered without Maths B3. Any Maths teaching duties will depend on the applicant’s subject competency.

Salary & Training

For fresh graduates:

• First 3 months: S$2,700 per month.
• After successful completion of probation: S$3,000 per month.

Training in the centre’s teaching methods and systems will be provided.

Working Days & Hours

You will normally work 4 days a week:

• Monday: 9:30am–6:30pm
• Friday: 9:45am–7:15pm
• Saturday: 8am–7pm
• Sunday: 8am–7pm

Each working day includes a 1 hour lunch break.

Your usual days off are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Both Saturday and Sunday are compulsory working days.

Up To 6 Extra Tuesdays Per Year

Under this schedule, you may also be required to work on up to 6 Tuesdays per year for training or operational needs.

During those weeks, you will work 5 days: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Wednesday and Thursday remain your days off.

These extra Tuesdays are scheduled when needed. Advance notice will be given through the roster, which is generally planned 2–3 months ahead.

Possible Change To The Regular Weekday

Depending on operational needs, the centre may arrange for Tuesday to replace Monday as your regular working day. This would still be a normal 4 day work week.

If this alternative arrangement applies, the regular schedule and arrangements for the additional working days will be explained and confirmed before joining.
