Job description

Orvia Underwriting (Orvia) is a new pan‑European Managing General Agent (MGA) launched by The Ardonagh Group. Leveraging Ardonagh’s strong distribution network, specialist talent and trusted insurer partnerships, Orvia marks an important step in the Group’s ambition to build a leading European underwriting business.
Orvia creates a single platform to combine a number of Ardonagh-owned MGAs across the London and European markets with a combined portfolio in excess of €250m GWP. Orvia focuses on developing specialist insurance products that meet the needs of clients and brokers, offering faster decisions, trusted service and seamless access to underwriting expertise across London and European markets.
We are looking for a hands‑on, technically strong Pricing & Portfolio Management Analyst to join our Actuarial & Portfolio Management team within the CUO office. Working closely with the senior members of the team, you will assist in all matters related to the development of the underwriting performance management framework. You will get broad exposure to diverse lines of business, and the chance to grow into portfolio analysis and pricing work as the team scales.

Core Responsibilities
  • Build, maintain, and improve data pipelines and data flows feeding portfolio management processes
  • Perform data cleaning, validation, and reconciliation, establishing robust checks
  • Assist with the development and refinement of forward-looking KPIs (e.g. price adequacy and risk adjusted rate change) under the guidance of more senior colleagues
  • Manage and maintain rating tools in close collaboration with underwriting colleagues: version control, testing, implementing rate changes, and supporting their digitisation into modern platforms
  • Lead the production of data submission packs and regular portfolio monitoring packs for carrier partners
  • Assist with exposure and mix analyses and with claim frequency and severity investigations
  • Build and maintain dashboards and MI (e.g. Power BI or similar)
  • Document processes, tools, and data definitions as they are built, so the team scales on solid foundations
Requirements

  • Strong coding and data skills; advanced Excel and ideally experience with Python/SQL
  • Experience (or strong aptitude) with dashboarding/BI tools such as Power BI
  • Exposure to P&C insurance data; MGA/delegated authority or bordereaux experience is a plus
  • Understanding of, or keen interest in, pricing and portfolio management concepts such as rate change monitoring, technical price models, and ultimate loss ratio projection
Personal Attributes
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm for building and further developing robust processes; turning imperfect data into reliable and automated processes
  • Positive, resilient, and adaptable
  • Willing to roll up your sleeves and take ownership of tasks
  • A team player who communicates clearly, and works well with underwriters and other functions
  • Curious and commercially minded
