Job summary

Raretec, based in Dublin, seeks a Credit Insurance Pricing Actuary to join our European Mortgage team. You will deliver high-quality pricing memos, estimate default probabilities and loss severities, and help shape pricing strategies across the SRT portfolio.

Success requires strong communication, Excel/PowerPoint proficiency, and the ability to present complex results to senior stakeholders. AI workflow improvements and collaboration with legal and BD teams are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Actuarial pricing or credit risk/insurance domain experience is preferred.
• Strong ability to synthesize complex findings for stakeholders.
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and standard modelling methods.

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality memos estimating PD (frequency) and LGD (severity) for loan portfolios.
• Incorporate tranching/structuring into pricing models and reflect it accurately.
• Review loan portfolio composition on potential deals and document findings.
• Develop pricing strategies to optimize risk-adjusted returns for European mortgage/SRT.
• Act as SME on European banking and SRT market trends and provide quarterly insights.
• Support business development pitches and assist legal teams with actuarial input.

Job description

We are delighted to be working on a Credit Insurance Pricing Actuary position with a leading global insurance group, based in Dublin. This role sits within a growing European Mortgage team, working on high impact risk transfer solutions, predominately Significant Risk Transfer (SRT), for leading European banks. The team is expanding quickly and offers fantastic exposure to senior management as well as genuine progression opportunities into leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality underwriting memos, including estimating probability of default (frequency) and loss given default (severity) for loan portfolios.
• Understand the tranching/structuring of transactions and ensure this is reflected in internal pricing models.
• Review and document loan portfolio composition on potential transactions.
• Develop pricing strategies that optimize risk-adjusted returns and support sustainable growth of the European mortgage/SRT portfolio.
• Act as a subject matter expert on European banking and SRT market trends.
• Perform quarterly portfolio analysis and deliver strategic insights to senior stakeholders.
• Contribute to the team's AI adoption agenda, helping evaluate and implement AI-enabled improvements to workflows.
• Support the business development team pitching to prospective banking clients, and assist the legal team with contract negotiations from an actuarial perspective.

Requirements

• Nearly or recently qualified actuary with relevant industry experience.
• Prior experience in a related field is desirable, such as credit risk/insurance, actuarial pricing, general insurance, investment markets, actuarial consulting, banking, or European/US mortgage markets.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to synthesize and present complex findings to stakeholders.
• Proficiency in advanced Excel, PowerPoint and general actuarial modelling methods.
• Data analytics/programming skills advantageous but not essential.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities and deadlines.
• European language skills desirable but not essential.
