Job summary

Tyndall National Institute in Dublin invites applications for a Postdoctoral/Senior Postdoctoral Researcher in Wireless Communication and Sensing for UAV networks. The role focuses on waveform development, antenna arrays, and joint radar/communications processing for portable UAV payloads, with field validation in Dublin and beyond.

You will work within the Wireless Communications Laboratory and collaborate across teams, mentoring postgraduate students and contributing to publications.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science, Wireless Communications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
  • Strong fundamentals in statistical signal processing with radar/RF sensing background.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and software-defined radios.
  • Proficiency in C++, Python, MATLAB or Julia.

Responsibilities

  • Develop beamforming and direction-finding for multi-antenna systems.
  • Create sensing waveforms and receiver processing for UAVs.
  • Implement algorithms in C++, Python, MATLAB or Julia and validate on SDR hardware.
  • Deploy solutions on configurable hardware and verify in field trials.
  • Publish research findings in journals and conferences.
  • Co-supervise and mentor postgraduate students as required.
  • Adhere to safety, quality standards, and lab procedures.
