Job summary

University College Dublin invites applications for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within the School of Biosystems and Food Engineering. This is a postdoctoral research position that involves the execution of a defined research programme under the supervision of the Principal Investigator.

The successful candidate will focus on cultivation of autotrophic omega-3 rich microalgae on brewery side streams and biorefinery processing of the resulting microalgae biomass.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biosystems and Food Engineering or Microalgae Biotechnology or cognate area.
• Demonstrated commitment to research and publications.
• Experience with omega-3 lipid rich microalgae on brewery side streams.
• Evidence of research activity and future scholarly output.

Responsibilities

• Execute a defined research programme under the supervision of the Principal Investigator.
• Cultivate autotrophic omega-3 rich microalgae on brewery side streams and biorefinery processing.
• Develop publications and funding proposals and mentor graduate students.
• Engage in research-led teaching opportunities where appropriate.
