Job summary

ORS is seeking a Portfolio Manager (Maternity Leave Cover) in our Civil and Structural Engineering team in Galway, Ireland. You will oversee a diverse project portfolio, track milestones, manage resources, and engage with stakeholders to ensure delivery in line with company objectives.

Reporting to the Project Director, you will coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams, provide regular progress updates, and contribute to continuous improvement across the portfolio.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive project milestone tracking system to monitor progress across all projects.
  • Ensure all project deliverables are met within the agreed timelines and budget.
  • Identify and address potential delays or issues in meeting project milestones.
  • Proactively identify programming issues, conflicts, and bottlenecks within projects.
  • Collaborate with project teams to resolve conflicts and streamline project delivery processes.
  • Conduct regular reviews of project plans and schedules to identify potential risks.
  • Monitor and track project resources, including personnel.
  • Ensure efficient allocation and utilization of resources across multiple projects.
  • Forecast resource needs and manage resource availability.
  • Engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders for effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project progress, issues, and risks.
  • Work closely with the Project Director to align project portfolio strategies with company objectives.
  • Assist the Project Director in portfolio planning, prioritisation, and decision-making processes.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to support successful delivery of projects.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on project portfolio performance, including status updates, risk assessments, and resource utilization.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all projects within the portfolio.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the project management framework.
  • Implement best practices and standardized approaches to enhance project delivery and efficiency.

About the Role

The role includes tracking project milestones, identifying programming issues and conflicts, managing project resources, and engaging with stakeholders across various projects. You will work closely with the Project Director to ensure the successful delivery of projects in line with company objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Project Milestone Tracking:
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive project milestone tracking system to monitor progress across all projects.
  • Ensure all project deliverables are met within the agreed timelines and budget.
  • Identify and address any potential delays or issues in meeting project milestones.
Identifying Programming Issues and Conflicts:
  • Proactively identify programming issues, conflicts, and bottlenecks within projects.
  • Collaborate with project teams to resolve conflicts and streamline project delivery processes.
  • Conduct regular reviews of project plans and schedules to identify potential risks.
Project Resource Tracking:
  • Monitor and track project resources, including personnel.

  • Work with project managers to forecast resource needs and manage resource

availability.

Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project progress, issues, and risks.
Collaboration with Project Director:
  • Work closely with the Project Director to align project portfolio strategies with company objectives.
  • Assist the Project Director in portfolio planning, prioritization, and decision-making processes.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to support the successful delivery of projects.

Continuous Improvement:

QEHS MS Responsibilities
  • Comply with ORS Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety (QEHS) Management System requirements, i.e. perform work according to process documents and procedures, and maintain document information/complete department forms/records as required.
  • Understand and apply the ORS Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety policy statements in all aspects of work.
  • Contribute towards achieving company’s ORS QEHS objectives.
  • Ensure that the needs and requirements of the company’s internal staff and customers are understood and delivered.
  • Help develop and improve the company’s internal processes and management system by reporting corrective actions, updates and improvement ideas.
Essential Requirements
  • Level 8 degree in Civil and / or Structural engineering, level 8 degree in construction management or a relevant related discipline.
  • 10 years+ experience in the construction industry working as a project manager.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
