Job summary

Davy is seeking a Portfolio Analyst to join its Private Client division in Ireland. The successful candidate will manage discretionary portfolios, perform performance and risk analysis, and support Investment Committee decisions.

You will liaise with Client Advisers and senior PMG members, contributing to core portfolio goals while complying with risk and probity standards. The role emphasizes collaboration with Strategy & Selection teams, a strong emphasis on analytics, and a hybrid-friendly

Qualifications

  • 3rd level degree in business/math/finance/accountancy or engineering.
  • 3–5 years of relevant portfolio analysis experience.
  • Quantitative research, performance measurement and risk knowledge preferred.
  • APA Savings and Investments qualification desirable; CFA pathway encouraged.
  • Strong IT skills including Excel and scripting languages (Python/SQL).

Responsibilities

  • Manage discretionary client portfolios in line with client mandates and IC guidance.
  • Conduct portfolio analysis focusing on asset allocation, performance and risk drift.
  • Monitor and report performance and risk against benchmarks for funds and portfolios.
  • Explain drivers of performance to clients, advisers and stakeholders.
  • Support Investment Committee evaluations with ad hoc investment analysis.
  • Act as a point of contact between team and Client Advisers on investment issues.
  • Collaborate with Investment Strategy & Selection teams to meet core goals.

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Portfolio Analyst to join our Private Client division. In the role, the successful candidate will:

  • Be responsible for the management of discretionary client portfolios in conjunction with agreed client mandate and Investment Committee guidance;
  • Conduct significant client portfolio analysis with a strong focus on asset allocation, performance and risk drift.
  • Work with the senior members on monitoring and reporting of performance and risk of funds and portfolios managed by Davy to internal and external benchmarks;
  • Analyse and effectively communicate the drivers of this performance to the different stakeholders including client advisors
  • Support the Investment Committee’s evaluations and decisions with ad hoc investment analysis related to the current or prospective products
  • Act as a point of contact between the team and Client Advisers on all investment issues.
  • Work closely with the Investment Strategy & Investment Selection teams to ensure that core portfolios deliver on their goals.
  • Work closely with senior members of the Portfolio Management Group on various projects.
  • Work with IS to drive efficiencies in processes.
  • Comply with the Risk and Compliance frameworks, policies and procedures associated with the role.

Requirements

About you

We are looking for somebody who has the following background and skills:

  • Relevant 3rd level Degree or Masters in business/mathematics/finance/accountancy or engineering;
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience of quantitative research, performance measurement, performance attribution and ex-ante/ex-post risk will be preferred
  • APA Savings and Investments qualification or equivalent is desirable;
  • Working towards Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or equivalent professional qualification;
  • Excellent information technology capability, including a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products (particularly Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint);
  • Working knowledge of scripted/programming languages (eg, Python and SQL) essential;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and quantitative skills;
  • Demonstrable interest and understanding of financial markets and main asset classes;
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; verbal and written;
  • High level of accuracy with strong attention to detail.
