Job summary

Pfizer Ireland is seeking a material science expert to act as the SME for polymeric components used across drug substance, sterile drug product manufacturing, and biopharmaceutical processing.

You will provide strategic leadership for material safety assessments, polymer qualification strategies, and regulatory support to ensure materials are compliant and scientifically defensible for Pfizer’s manufacturing network.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Polymer/Material Science or Materials/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or related science.
• Minimum of 6 years technical experience in R&D, technical support, or supporting pharmaceutical component materials.

Responsibilities

• Lead material science strategy for single-use systems across biopharma manufacturing and packaging.
• Provide guidance on material safety compliance including bioreactivity and physicochemical testing.
• Coordinate material characterization and safety testing programs for new polymers.
• Translate standards and regulatory requirements into Pfizer processes and specifications.
• Identify qualification strategies for emerging polymers and alternative materials.
