Job summary

Medtronic is seeking a Platform Engineer II for its PCS team in Galway, Ireland. You will help develop and operate the software ecosystem supporting implantable cardiac devices, building scalable cloud and platform capabilities across application, network, mobile, and embedded-device layers.

You will work with global teams to shape technical solutions, improve engineering practices, and deliver reliable clinician and patient experiences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience creating or maintaining repeatable infrastructure using Terraform, Helm, or comparable tools.
  • Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability-as-code practices using Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, OpenTelemetry, or comparable tools.
  • Strong ownership, initiative, and collaborative communication style to improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, operate, and support shared engineering platforms and services.
  • Build reusable automation, tools, documentation, and runbooks to improve productivity and platform reliability.
  • Implement, test, deploy, and support defined platform capabilities with general supervision.
  • Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and suggest improvements to systems and processes.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, architects, security, data professionals, and infra teams to meet milestones and enable engineering initiatives.

Working across the software development lifecycle, you will build robust, scalable cloud and platform capabilities that support application, network, mobile, connectivity, and embedded-device solutions.You will collaborate with global, cross-functional teams to shape technical solutions, improve engineering practices, and deliver reliable experiences for clinicians and patients.Primary Responsibilities:Develop, operate, and support shared engineering platforms and services.Build reusable automation, tools, documentation, and runbooks that improve developer productivity, operational efficiency, and platform reliability.Implement, test, deploy, and support defined platform capabilities with general supervision.Contribute to technical design discussions and apply sound practices across software development, cloud computing, security, reliability, and operational excellence.Troubleshoot technical issues, identify root causes, and recommend improvements to systems and engineering processes.Partner with software engineers, architects, security specialists, data professionals, and infrastructure teams to deliver project milestones and engineering enablement initiatives.Provide guidance and assistance to entry-level engineers when appropriate.Key Skills & ExperienceMust have:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, with at least two years of relevant experience; or an advanced degree.Experience creating or maintaining repeatable infrastructure and configuration using Terraform, Helm, or comparable tools.Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability-as-code practices using Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, OpenTelemetry, or comparable tools.Strong ownership, initiative, and the ability to deliver effectively in a fast-paced environment.A collaborative communication style and commitment to improving patient outcomes through connected health technology.Nice to have:Cloud platforms and infrastructure services.Software development using a modern programming or scripting language.Source control, automated testing, and continuous integration or delivery practices.Containerisation and modern application platforms.Data processing, event streaming, databases, or distributed systems.Security, quality, and compliance tooling integrated into engineering workflows.Developer productivity, self-service platforms, or engineering enablement solutions.Physical Job RequirementsThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position.Recruitment Fraud AlertWe are aware of phishing scams targeting job seekers.
