Job summary

AbbVie in Sligo is seeking a Planning Manager to oversee end-to-end supply chain planning, ensuring accurate production scheduling, inventory control and material availability to support manufacturing operations.

You will lead the S&OP and LR planning processes, collaborate with internal teams and suppliers, drive continuous improvement, and develop the Planning Team while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical or business field.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in manufacturing or supply chain, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proficiency in MRP/ERP tools (SAP preferred) and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and Long-Range Planning (LRP) processes.
  • Foster and sustain productive working relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Monitor and control inventory levels to meet production and customer needs while reducing excess stock and costs.
  • Develop and analyse supply chain scenarios.
  • Lead capacity planning and inventory management activities.
  • Support Master Production Schedule (MPS), Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Lead and develop the Supply Chain Planning team.
  • Track and report planning and operational performance metrics.
  • Participate in network-wide supply chain activities to enhance integration and service.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for planning processes.
  • Act as key contact for suppliers.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing & Supplier Management to ensure materials are ordered and available in stock.
  • Support the PSM group in delivering purchasing forecasts and ensure compliance to the financial plan.
  • Lead cost savings initiatives and Supply Chain strategic projects.

Job Description We are now hiring a Planning Manager to join our team in Sligo at our Ballytivnan site. The Planning Manager oversees and coordinates end-to-end supply chain planning processes, ensuring efficient production scheduling, inventory management, and material availability to support manufacturing operations while driving integration, risk management, and continuous improvement across the supply chain. The role requires a proactive and detail-driven professional with strong analytical, technical, and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the monthly Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process and Long-Range Planning (LRP) process.
  • Foster and sustain productive working relationships with both internal teams and external partners to support collaboration and achieve organisational objectives.
  • Monitor and control inventory levels to ensure materials and products are available to meet production and customer needs, while reducing excess stock and related costs.
  • Develop and analyse supply chain scenarios.
  • Lead capacity planning and inventory management activities.
  • Support all planning functions, including Master Production Schedule (MPS), Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Lead and develop the Supply Chain Planning team.
  • Track and report planning and operational performance metrics.
  • Participate in network-wide supply chain activities to enhance integration and service.
  • Drive and implement continuous improvement initiatives for planning processes.
  • Act as a key contact for suppliers.
  • Collaborate closely with the Purchasing & Supplier Management team to ensure materials are ordered, always delivered and available in stock to support production requirements.
  • Support the PSM group in delivering purchasing forecasts and ensure compliance to the financial plan.
  • Lead and participate in key cost savings initiatives and Supply Chain strategic projects, delivering agreed milestones to drive improved performance.
  • Ensure compliance to all quality and organisational SOPs.
  • Provide audit support as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical or business field.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in manufacturing or supply chain environment, preferably in a planning role, including at least 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Proficiency in MRP/ERP tools, (SAP preferred).
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration across diverse functional teams.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety, regulatory, and quality standards in all planning operations.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to develop and adapt strategies for changing business environments.
