Job summary

PJ Hegarty & Sons is seeking a Project Planner to join our construction team on a large-scale project in the Dublin Region. You will develop, monitor and report baseline schedules across CSA disciplines, integrating MEP schedules to support delivery.

The role requires a degree in Engineering or Construction Management, 3-5 years in a planner role, and strong communication skills. You will work with site teams and management to forecast and report progress.

Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 3-5 years experience in a Construction Planner role.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project & Primavera.
  • Experience with a main contractor on large scale projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage planning service for the project across disciplines.
  • Prepare schedules for all phases of the project.
  • Ensure schedule updates are cross-checked and consistent.
  • Quality checks on the Schedule prior to client submission.
  • Monitor progress, analyze deviations, and recommend actions.
  • Coordinate a progress measurement system.
  • Present schedules to project teams and clients.
  • Extract and analyze information from schedules using filters and histograms.
  • Plan project programmes and collect planning data.
  • Work closely with Site management teams.
  • Generate forecasts and variance reports to monitor projects.

Overview

PJ Hegarty & Sons is seeking a Project Planner to join our construction team on a large‑scale project in the Dublin Region. Project‑based and reporting directly to the Contracts Manager, the candidate will work with the wider management team to develop, monitor and report on base‑line construction schedules across a wide range of CSA disciplines, integrating with MEP schedules in a co‑ordinated approach to assist with overall project delivery.


Key Duties


  • Manage a reliable and responsive planning service for the project.

  • Manage the preparation of schedules for all phases of a project across multiple disciplines

  • Responsible for ensuring that schedule updates from the various area schedulers are carried out, and that these inputs are cross checked and consistent with one another to support the overall Program

  • Ensures that all quality checks are carried out on the Schedule before submitting it externally to the Client.

  • Monitor progress against schedules, analyse deviations and recommend remedial actions.

  • Co‑ordinate a progress measurement system

  • Manage the preparation of and make presentations to project teams and client on schedule control and procedures used.

  • Extract and analyse specific information from schedules by the use of filters, lookaheads, histograms, S‑curves

  • Project programme planning, collect and analyse information to plan and schedule construction projects.

  • Work closely with the Site management teams

  • Generate forecasts, variance reports, and other documentation to monitor and manage projects.


Requirements


  • Degree‑qualified in Engineering or Construction Management.

  • 3-5 Years experience in a Construction Planner role

  • Experience with Microsoft Project & Primavera

  • Experience working with a main contractor on large scale commercial building projects with knowledge of Civil works, M&E and Fit-Out's.

  • Enthusiastic, motivated individual required

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to use time productively, maximise efficiency and meet challenging work goals

  • Possess ability to work well as part of a team and independently
