Job description

Locations: Monaghan (Ireland), Bremerhaven (Germany), Rotterdam (Netherlands), Southampton (UK).

Employment: Full-time, Temporary.

Key Responsibilities

Installation and installation of marine pipelines: Assembly, fitting and installation of piping systems on vessels, offshore platforms, and other structures related to the marine industry. Working with different pipe materials (carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, PVC) and using different joining methods (welding, tapping, twisting) to ensure tight and durable systems. Installation of piping systems for applications such as fuel, water, HVAC, and other systems critical to marine vessel operations.

Interpretation of technical drawings and specifications: Reading and interpreting detailed technical drawings, isometric drawings and installation specifications, especially in the context of marine equipment. Work based on shipyard plans and diagrams to ensure accurate layout and installation of piping systems. Use of pipe laying tools (spirit levels, protractors, measuring devices) to precisely fit and install pipes in the unit structure.

Quality Control & Inspection: Inspect installed pipe, flange and fitting connections for design compliance, tightness and integrity. Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic tests on installed systems to check tightness and pressure resistance. Routine inspections during installation to ensure that piping systems comply with high quality standards and marine regulations.

Troubleshooting and adaptation: Identify and troubleshoot matching or alignment issues that may occur during installation. Use problem-solving skills to deal with challenges related to limited space, angles, and configurations typical of marine environments. Propose and implement solutions for complex piping system layouts and configurations that require high precision.

Compliance with safety rules and maritime regulations: Strict adherence to safety protocols specific to the maritime industry, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), confined space procedures and work at height. Compliance with marine safety regulations, including rules for fire prevention, handling of hazardous materials, and safe installation of pipes in key areas of the vessel. Ensuring compliance with all marine industry safety standards during installation and throughout the project lifecycle.

Collaboration and communication: Work closely with engineers, marine inspectors, project managers, and other team members to smoothly complete the tasks related to the equipment of the vessels. Clear and effective communication with supervisors about work progress, challenges and safety issues. Coordination with other professionals (electricians, welders) for timely and accurate installation of integrated systems.

Working conditions: Work in marine environments, including shipyards, offshore platforms, or vessels. Work in confined spaces, at heights and sometimes in harsh weather or environmental conditions. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including helmets, gloves, safety footwear, eye and hearing protection. Possible exposure to hazardous materials, heavy equipment and working at height.

Technical proficiency in marine equipment

Proven experience in installing and fitting piping systems for vessels and offshore platforms, including fuel, HVAC, freshwater, and ballast systems. Knowledge of a variety of pipe materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, copper and PVC. Proficiency in various joining techniques such as welding, threading and twisting, especially in marine applications.

Certificates

Important certifications such as NCCER Pipefitting, ASME B31.3, Georg Fischer training, or other industry-specific certifications. Knowledge of marine industry standards such as ISO 9001, ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) regulations, and IMO (International Maritime Organization) codes will be an asset. Additional offshore and offshore certifications (confined spaces, offshore safety, welding certifications) will be welcome.

Experience

3–5 years of experience in pipeline installation, preferably in marine equipment or offshore construction industry. Experience working on vessels or offshore structures (oil rigs, ships, offshore platforms) is highly preferred. Knowledge of high-specification piping systems and safety-critical installations is essential.

Physical Endurance and Problem Solving

The physical strength and fitness necessary to perform assembly tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in tight or elevated spaces. Strong problem-solving skills, especially when working with complex piping systems in confined space.
