Job summary

The Orchard Care Group is hiring for a Person in Charge role for a new nurse-led disability service in Rosslare, Co. Wexford, Ireland. The ideal candidate is a Registered Nurse with NMBI registration and at least 3 years of management experience in health or social care.

You will provide high-quality care leadership, ensure compliance with regulations and HIQA standards, and work autonomously with initiative. A flexible, on-call role is included within the responsibilities.

Qualifications

• A relevant degree (minimum level 7) in Nursing.
• Valid NMBI registration.
• A minimum of 3 years in a management or supervisory role in health or social care.
• Level 6 Management qualification (achievement can be supported by the company).
• A proven track record of managing a service which meets quality, regulatory/legislative requirements.
• Full current driving license with full eligibility to drive in Ireland, and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Take the lead on shift when on duty in the service.
• Participate in the provision of direct care to individuals, following established care plans, protocols, and procedures.
• Assist in assessing the needs of individuals under care and developing individualised care plans.
• Ensure the implementation of appropriate care interventions and monitor the progress and outcomes of care.
• Assist in training and orienting new care team members, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their roles effectively.
• Assist in organising and facilitating training programs and workshops for the team to enhance their knowledge and skills.
• Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of care plans, assessments, and other relevant records
• Monitor and ensure the completion of required documentation by team members in a timely manner
• Assist in implementing quality improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality of care services provided.
• Conduct regular audits and checks to ensure adherence to quality standards and identify areas for improvement.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the team, promoting effective communication and teamwork.

About The Role

As we continue to expand to provide additional services to meet the needs of those we care for, we have an exciting management opportunity as Person in Charge for our new nurse led disability service in Rosslare, Co. Wexford. The ideal candidate will be a Registered Nurse (NMBI registered) with at least 3 years management experience, preferably having worked with people with intellectual disabilities. Purpose of the role is to provide the highest possible standards of support to those who use Orchard Community Care service. To ensure the service is in line with appropriate Government and Health Service Executive (HSE) Policy. Within that context the Manager will be expected to work autonomously and with initiative. The Manager will act as the Person in Charge for existing services ensuring compliance with the Department of Health Regulations and HIQA Standards.

Conditions of work

• This post requires a flexible approach to working hours, primarily to ensure the safety and well-being of young people and staff.
• The post holder is required to lead and participate in the On-Call support system.
