Job summary

St James's Hospital in Ireland invites applications for Clinical Nurse Manager I in the Day Surgery Centre Theatre. The post will lead the Theatre Department nursing team, deliver education and development, and supervise clinical practice and student nurses.

The CNM I will provide orientation for new staff, identify training needs, drive evidence-based care, and participate in quality and safety initiatives, while deputising for CNM II when required.

Qualifications

• Registered General Nurse with NMBI or eligible to register.
• 3 years post-registration experience in an acute hospital or relevant clinical area within the last 5 years.
• Demonstrate management/in-charge experience within the last year.
• Recognised postgraduate Diploma on Perioperative Nursing or the commitment to do the course in two years.
• Experience in teaching and assessing the nursing and Health Care Assistant team.
• Management qualification.
• Working knowledge of healthcare patient record systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide orientation and supervision for new nursing staff, ensuring they are aware of policies and procedures.
• Identify training needs of the nursing and Health Care Assistant team whilst providing guidance and support.
• Encourage evidence-based practice, using a care planning approach to nursing care. Monitor and evaluate the care given.
• In consultation with the CNM II and other disciplines, implement and assess quality management programmes.
• Collaborate with medical, paramedical, and others to devise a plan of care. Ensure it is implemented and evaluated.
• Engage with key stakeholders to ensure high standards of care are delivered and maintained for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Proactively manages quality and safety standards at local level.
• Deputise for the CNM II as required.
• Adhere to Code of Professional Practice and Behaviours.
• Adhere to Hospital policies and procedures related to area of practice.
• Ensure own mandatory learning and training is kept up to date.
