Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to handle scheduling, preregistration, and financial duties. You will verify benefits, calculate estimates, collect liabilities, and post payments while ensuring a positive patient experience.

You will interact with patients, providers, and payors, maintain productivity, and follow organizational policies. Training and compliance with HIPAA and privacy policies are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or one - three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two previous years of related experience, preferably within a medical setting, financial services setting, and/or a demanding customer service environment
• Experience operating a PC and using software applications

Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduling and preregistration functions, validates patient data, identifies and verifies medical benefits, accurate plan code and COB order.
• Verifies insurance information through payor contacts via telephone, online resources, or electronic verification system.
• Identifies all patient financial responsibilities, calculates estimates, collects liabilities and posts payments in the ADT system.
• Delivers positive patient experience and maintains relationships with patients, AHN leadership and staff, physician offices and external agencies.
• Maintains focus on productivity standards and suggests innovative approaches to improve performance.
• Adheres to AHN policies and completes mandatory training within guidelines and timeframes.
• Communicates barriers and assists team with operational support and training.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
