Job summary

Hodson Bay Hotel in Athlone, Co. Westmeath, Ireland, is seeking a Pastry Chef to join our on-site kitchen team. You will produce pastries and desserts, align with daily business needs, and contribute to daily specials while ensuring timely delivery and high-quality presentation.

The ideal candidate has pastry experience, an interest in pastry, and a dedicated focus on customer service and hygiene. The role offers permanent employment with flexible hours and opportunities for growth within Hodson

Qualifications

• Experience in pastry production and dessert preparation.
• Knowledge of pastry menu planning and specials.
• Understanding of HACCP and high standards of food hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the production of pastries and desserts in accordance menu requirements.
• Be knowledgeable of the day’s business.
• Be familiar with the menu and with any “specials” of the day.
• Participate in menu planning.
• Ensure all dishes are prepared in a timely fashion.
• Ensure all dishes leaving the kitchen are prepared to the approved standard of presentation.
• Avoid unnecessary wastage, to observe proper portion planning and control and to act in a cost-effective, responsible manner.
• Ensure excellent food hygiene practice is observed in the entire food chain from storage through to preparation and service.
• Ensure HACCP compliance within the kitchen and all Food & Beverage outlets.
• Ensure the kitchen equipment is in working order; report any maintenance issues to your supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

The Ideal candidate for this position

• Must have previous experience in a similar position
• Must have a background and interest in pastry
• Qualification in Pastry is desirable
• Must be courteous and focused on providing a consistently high standard of customer service
• Must be standards driven and detail-orientated
• Must have the ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment
