Job summary

Morgan McKinley partners with an East Cork accounting practice to recruit a part-time Qualified Accountant. The role focuses on preparing year-end financial statements, tax returns, VAT compliance, and direct client communication.

The candidate will support Revenue ROS submissions, maintain strong client relationships, and ensure timely delivery of all statutory requirements within a small team.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years PQE in Irish accounting practice.
• CPA/ACCA or qualified by experience
• Strong Excel and software skills (SAP, Sage40)
• Excellent communication, time management, and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory year-end financial statements for clients.
• Submit periodic tax returns including VAT, Income Tax, Corporation Tax (RCT, Form CT1, Form 11).
• Liaise with Revenue via ROS and manage client queries.
• Act as main contact for routine client queries and deadlines.

The practice focuses entirely on non-audit services, ensuring a supportive and practical approach to our clients' financial needs.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Qualified Accountant to join a growing team. In this role, you will manage everyday prepare year-end financial statements, and handle income tax and corporation tax returns as well as VAT. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable communicating directly with clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounts Preparation: Prepare statutory year-end financial statements for limited companies and sole traders to a high standard, ready for final partner review.
• Tax Compliance: Prepare and submit periodic tax returns, including:
• VAT and Relevant Contracts Tax (RCT)
• Income Tax (Form 11 for sole traders and directors)
• Corporation Tax (Form CT1)
• Client Management: Act as a main point of contact for routine client queries, helping them understand their numbers and deadlines.
• Revenue Liaison: Assist in managing communications and submissions with Revenue via ROS (Revenue Online Service).

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of PQE working within an Irish accounting practice.
• Qualifications: CPA/ACCA, or qualified by experience.
• Software Skills: Experience with SAP and Sage40 an advantage, strong MS Excel skills.
• Skills: Strong communication skills, excellent time management, and the ability to work independently.
