Part Time Library Assistant - TUS, LSAD Unijobs on behalf of TUS, LSAD are currently recruiting for a Part Time Library Assistant. This position is to be filled ASAP and is for the 26/27 academic year (term-time only). The hourly rate of pay is 17.55. This is a part-time position (20-25 hours per week approx.) Monday to Saturday including evening work up to 9pm. Purpose of the Position: To provide comprehensive administrative, clerical and secretarial support in the library in LSAD. Duties and Responsibilities: To work as an effective member of the Library Services team in LSAD. To maintain the efficient circulation of library material through issuing, renewing and returning books. To carry out daily scheduled shelving of items in line with the Dewey Decimal Classification System in a thorough and efficient manner. To support and instruct library users in their use of library services, e.g. library catalogue, photocopiers and printers, self-issue machines and library online resources. To support library use by responding to general reference and directional enquiries, in person, phone and email. To maintain a friendly, equitable and consistent service with due regard to customer care. From time to time be required to work with other groups within the Library and the wider TUS community and to assist with the promotion of library services and resources, as reasonably required by your line manager. To undertake such other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the librarian or a senior member of staff. The duties may be also of a clerical nature such as filing, shelving, photocopying, enquiries, the preparation and input of material on computers. The appointee would be expected to make decisions within limits and clearly defined guidelines. The job will involve regular contact with students, staff, the public and organisations and individuals at all levels where discretion, tact, courtesy and judgement would have to be constantly exercised. The jobholder would be expected to exercise a good degree of initiative and be capable of working under a reasonable level of supervision. Special conditions: The work is physical in that it requires lifting and moving of books. Rostering Duties outside normal working hours apply to this post; evenings and Saturdays are included. While the role will primarily be based in LSAD, the person may at times also be required to work in the Moylish campus library. Skills, Competencies and/or Knowledge: Each candidate and every person holding this post must have; A background in Art - hold a degree in an Art-related field or is currently studying Art. Demonstrate a strong customer service ethos. Highly organised with excellent written and oral communication skills with a proactive 'can do' approach to all tasks.
