Job description

Title: Park Superintendent Grade II - Tree Officer in the OPW

The Office of Public Works (OPW) is the largest single custodian of Historic Parks, Gardens and Designed Landscapes in the state, with a portfolio including 11 international and three nationally ranked gardens. A number of tree collections and arboretums are contained within this portfolio and landscape conservation and tree management including climate resilience and biodiversity gain is to the forefront in management decisions relating to the portfolio. A considerable number of the parks & gardens have been awarded the International Green Flag Award.

A vacancy currently exists for Park Superintendent Grade II-Tree Officer.

Reporting to the Chief Park Superintendent, the successful candidate will be part of the professional team within National Historic Properties and work closely with colleagues across heritage services. They will have responsibility for co-ordinating the management of the OPW tree resource in a sustainable and cost-efficient manner and will have input into the day-to-day tree management and arboricultural projects in the OPW s parks, gardens and designed landscapes.
