Job summary

Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board invites applications for inclusion on the Substitute Teaching Panel for the 2026/2027 academic year. Vacancies may arise to provide substitute cover; selection does not guarantee future employment with KCETB.

Applicants must have Garda Vetting and provide proof of current registration with the Teaching Council or evidence of applying for registration for Newly Qualified Teachers.

Qualifications

• Garda Vetting is a prerequisite to commencing employment with Kilkenny and Carlow ETB.
• A copy of confirmation of current registration from the Teaching Councils with details of subjects registered to teach or for Newly Qualified Teachers please provide proof of application to the Teaching Council for registration.
• The information provided will be checked and collated by the Recruitment and Selection Team; personal data may be shared with relevant Line Managers.

Responsibilities

• Provide substitute cover for vacancies that may arise during the 2026/27 academic year.
• Line Managers will contact the teacher directly should a substitute vacancy arise.

Places on the panel are to fill vacancies in respect of substitute cover that may arise in the 2026/27 academic year and does not guarantee a future offer of employment with Kilkenny and Carlow ETB.
Please note:

• Garda Vetting is a prerequisite to commencing employment with Kilkenny and Carlow ETB.
• A copy of confirmation of current registration from the Teaching Councils with details of subjects registered to teach or for Newly Qualified Teachers please provide proof of application to the Teaching Council for registration.
• The information provided by you on this form will be submitted directly to the Recruitment and Selection Team of Kilkenny and Carlow ETB who will check and collate the details.
• Your personal data will be made available to relevant Line Managers which may include Kilkenny and Carlow ETB Post Primary Principals, Deputy Principals, Adult Education Officers (in respect of VTOS/PLC Teachers) and/or Director of Schools/ Director of FET as appropriate.
• The Line Manager will make direct contact with the Teacher should a substitute vacancy arise.
