A local construction firm in County Galway is seeking an experienced Painter to work on various projects. The role involves painting, varnishing, and preparing surfaces of buildings and structures. The ideal candidate will possess experience with standard and specialized paints, as well as knowledge of health and safety procedures in a construction environment.

  • Stains and polishes wood surfaces by hand.
  • Clean painting equipment and follow safety procedures.

Job Description

Painters paint, varnish, wallpaper and other protective and decorative materials to interior and exterior walls and surfaces, painters also paint the interior and exterior of buildings and other structures. They may use standard latex based paints or specialised paints for decorative effect or protective properties. Painters are skilled in using brushes, paint rollers and paint sprayers for different applications.



  • Erects working platform or scaffolding up to five metres in height

  • Prepares surfaces by cleaning, sanding and filling cracks and holes with appropriate filler

  • Applies primer, undercoat and finishing coat(s) using brush, roller, or spray equipment

  • Mixes adhesive or removes self-adhesive backing and positions covering material on wall, matching up patterns where appropriate and removing wrinkles and air bubbles by hand or brush

  • Stains, waxes and french polishes wood surfaces by hand

  • Clean painting equipment, dispose of hazardous waste, dispose of non-hazardous waste, follow health and safety procedures, paint surfaces, prepare surface for painting
