Job summary

The Lodge at Ashford in Cong, Co. Mayo seeks a skilled Painter to join our Maintenance team. This full-time role requires a proactive, hands-on approach, maintaining luxury standards for guest areas and facilities.

You will collaborate with Management, Maintenance and Housekeeping, carrying out high-quality painting and decorating with safety. You will also support broader maintenance duties as needed in a dynamic luxury hotel environment.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in painting and decorating, ideally within a hotel or high-end environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on high-quality finishes.
  • Flexible, hands-on approach with willingness to support general maintenance duties.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet operational needs.
  • Relevant painting/decorating qualification (desirable).
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with good communication skills and a guest-focused approach.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise daily with Management, Maintenance and Housekeeping to prioritise painting tasks
  • Carry out painting and decorating works to a high professional standard, ensuring minimal disruption to guests
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment, using protective materials and adhering to best practices
  • Clearly display safety signage and maintain awareness of guest and colleague safety
  • Manage and maintain the paint store, keeping it organised and compliant with safety standards
  • Use ladders, scaffolding, and equipment safely and in line with Health & Safety procedures
  • Take a flexible approach to working hours, including evening or night work to minimise guest disruption
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to support the overall operation of the hotel
  • Plan, prioritise, and complete tasks efficiently, escalating works and coordinating external contractors through the Maintenance Manager
  • Support the wider maintenance function in a hands-on capacity

We are currently seeking a Painter to join our Maintenance team at our luxury hotel. This full-time role is ideal for a proactive and hands-on individual with strong attention to detail and a passion for maintaining the highest standards.

As part of the management team, you will play a key role in ensuring the hotel’s facilities, equipment, and grounds are consistently maintained to an exceptional level, supporting both operational excellence and an outstanding guest experience.

Key Responsibilities as a Painter
  • Liaise daily with Management, Maintenance, and Housekeeping teams to prioritise and coordinate painting and maintenance tasks
  • Carry out all painting and decorating works to a high professional standard, ensuring minimal disruption to guests at all times
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment, using appropriate protective materials (e.g. dust sheets) and adhering to best practices
  • Clearly display safety signage (e.g. wet paint signs) and maintain strong awareness of guest and colleague safety at all times
  • Manage and maintain the paint store, ensuring it is kept organised, secure, and compliant with safety standards, including proper storage of flammable materials
  • Use ladders, scaffolding, and equipment safely and in line with Health & Safety procedures
  • Take a flexible approach to working hours, including evening or night work where required to minimise guest disruption
  • Work collaboratively with other departments (e.g. Porters, Grounds, Maintenance) to support the overall operation of the hotel
  • Plan, prioritise, and complete tasks efficiently, escalating works and coordinating external contractors through the Maintenance Manager where required
  • Support the wider maintenance function in a hands-on capacity, assisting with general maintenance duties as needed
