Job summary

Osborne Recruitment is seeking a Packaging Technologist with a strong background in packaging technology, materials science or food science, focusing on regulatory compliance and PPWR for plastic and polymer-based products. The role supports Members across packaging, waste reduction and waste management matters.

Responsibilities include site visits, audits, and providing practical regulatory guidance, working with a team to improve sustainability and compliance, with a hybrid work arrangement

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years’ experience in a similar Waste or Sustainability role.
  • Experience with packaging and design, particularly with plastic and polymer based products.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full, clean driving license.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and compliance audits.
  • Identify ways to improve waste management, sustainability, resource efficiency and processes.
  • Provide practical advice on waste prevention, recycling, design, and environmental best practice.
  • Prepare site visit and audit reports with clear recommendations.
  • Work with clients to develop and implement improvement plans.
  • Monitor compliance with environmental and waste management requirements.
  • Keep up to date with relevant and upcoming legislation.
  • Build relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Support sustainability and continuous improvement projects.
  • Help prepare industry guidance, reports, presentations and communications.
  • Attend industry events, seminars, forums and training.

Packaging Technologist (Plastic based Products)

Location: Dublin 22

Salary: €60,000

Hours: Monday - Friday (37 hours p/w)

(Hybrid after 6 months)

Our client is a leading organisation in Ireland focused on packaging recycling, waste prevention and sustainability. They work closely with businesses to improve packaging design, reduce waste and support compliance with packaging and environmental legislation. Our client is now looking to hire an experienced professional to provide expert advice and support to its Members across Ireland.

About the Role:

Our client is seeking an Executive with a strong background in packaging technology, materials science or food science, combined with experience in regulatory compliance and PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) with plastic and polymer based products The successful candidate will provide technical and regulatory support to Members across packaging, waste reduction and waste management matters.

The role will involve supporting key programmes and initiatives, responding to and managing Member queries, providing guidance on packaging and regulatory requirements, and contributing to the continuous improvement of Member Services. The successful candidate will work closely with the wider team to ensure Members receive accurate, practical and timely support on evolving packaging legislation and compliance obligations.

Required:
  • 3–5 years’ experience in a similar Waste or Sustainability role.
  • Experience with packaging and design, particularly with plastic and polymer based products
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full, clean driving license.
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of packaging and waste legislation, including PPWR.
  • Understanding of commercial waste management.
