Job summary

Re-turn is Ireland’s national DRS operator, seeking a Packaging & Labelling Specialist to act as the technical expert for drinks containers registered on the national market. The role centers on data accuracy, registrations, validation against the Technical Specification, and ensuring compliance across barcodes, labelling and recyclability.

You will engage with producers, importers and packaging suppliers, guiding them on requirements, updates to specifications, and accurate material content.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in packaging technologist/packaging development or technical role.
• Hands-on PET and/or aluminium drinks packaging experience.
• Ability to read and challenge supplier specifications on recycled content, additives and barriers.
• Working knowledge of GS1 barcodes and packaging artwork processes.
• Excellent data accuracy and strong Excel skills.
• Clear communication to internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Review, validate and approve product registrations against Technical Specification and Labelling Manual.
• Identify and correct inaccuracies in registration data to reflect on-shelf containers.
• Manage changes to registered containers and annual producer reports.
• Develop and implement product validation and testing processes.
• Maintain barcode, deposit logo and labelling specifications; address high-risk barcodes.
