Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a senior leader to own POS vendor management and the Inventory & Deployment function across Europe. The role entails delivering against strategic targets, managing vendor performance, and driving cost efficiency and digitisation initiatives.

You will work with Product, Sales, Finance and Risk teams to ensure seamless operations and strong merchant experiences, while leading experienced managers and building an accountable, inclusive team.

Qualifications

  • Min. 5 years’ people leadership, including leading managers or senior team members.
  • Proven track record of owning and delivering strategic targets.
  • Proven vendor / supplier management, including performance and commercial negotiation.
  • Proven POS inventory and deployment experience across multiple markets.
  • Strong CapEx and OpEx planning, forecasting and cost control, including variance management.
  • Experience driving improvement and change, with a strong bias towards automation and digitisation.
  • Experience and knowledge of vendor contract structure and legal language.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder skills, including presenting to senior leaders.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, using data and dashboards to drive decisions.
  • Knowledge of POS products and their lifecycle; experience in card acquiring, payments or financial services.
  • Uses AI tools and models to work smarter - including building simple agents to automate reporting, presentations and routine tasks (an advantage)
  • Fluent English; Polish an asset.

Job Description

This role leads POS Vendor Management and Inventory & Deployment across Europe. It carries full accountability for vendor performance, commercial outcomes, stock availability and deployment performance, and for keeping CapEx and OpEx spend in line with agreed plans and forecasts.

This is a delivery-focused leadership role. The role holder sets clear direction and targets and delivers them, with a strong focus on transformation, vendor value and the merchant experience.

They are expected to drive continuous operational improvement and deliver efficiency through digitisation and automation. The role requires someone who takes ownership, makes decisions and delivers results without waiting for direction.

The role holder will lead and develop experienced managers, building a high-performing and accountable organisation.

Working closely with Product, Sales, Finance and Risk (TPRM), they will be the senior escalation point for Vendor Management and Inventory & Deployment across Europe.

Key Responsibilities
Ownership & Accountability:
  • Take overall responsibility for the performance of POS Vendor Management, Inventory and Deployment across Europe, and deliver against agreed strategic targets
  • Set the direction and roadmap for both functions, in line with the wider Operations strategy.
  • Hold full accountability for all SLAs and KPIs across both teams, with a strong focus on service delivery and the merchant experience
  • Maintain a strong risk and control environment across both functions, ensuring control gaps are identified and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure procedures are documented, reviewed and approved, including audit requirements.
  • Be the senior decision maker and escalation point for both areas.
Vendor Management:
  • Own POS vendor performance, commercial management and vendor risk (TPRM).
  • Lead Deployment vendor commercial reviews and negotiations; agree and enforce improvement targets to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Hardware Vendors – set and drive improvement targets across delivery lead times, repairs, NFF, Discovery and DOA.
  • New Hardware Supplier Onboarding – lead the end-to-end introduction of a new hardware supplier across Europe, ensuring system readiness, contractual obligations and stock tracking are all in place.
  • Lead vendor selection through RFI / RFP, and ensure vendor compliance across contracts, legal, TPRM and PRISM.
Inventory & Deployment Management
  • Own European POS CapEx and OpEx planning, forecasting and reporting end-to-end, delivering within budget with minimal variance.
  • Lead the Inventory & Deployment function, with accountability for forecasting, ordering, inventory accuracy, distribution and consumables management, ensuring optimal stock levels across all markets
  • Drive cost efficiency targets, reducing spend and improving value across all markets.
Automation, Change & Improvement
  • Champion an automation-first approach across both functions, delivering efficiency through digitisation and process improvement.
  • Drive continuous improvement, simplifying processes and controls and removing waste.
Stakeholders & Senior Leadership
  • Build strong, trusted relationships across Operations, Product, Business Development and Risk & Compliance.
  • Represent both functions in projects and new POS product launches, working closely with Product, Sales and Finance.
  • Present performance, risks and plans to senior leaders with clear, data driven updates, and flag delivery risks in advance.
Team Leadership
  • Lead, coach and develop experienced managers and senior team leaders.
  • Build a high-performing, accountable team and manage performance proactively.
  • Create an inclusive, engaged and collaborative environment, and support succession and talent development.
