Job summary

Localgov in Kilkenny County Council is recruiting retained firefighters to respond to fires and emergencies. Staff must be prepared to perform duties to protect life and property, comply with national and local agreements, and participate in required training and driving tasks as needed.

Firefighters must carry a pocket alerter at all times and follow all policies, procedures, and drills. The role may include additional duties as assigned by the Station Officer.

Qualifications

• Must be prepared to accept the duties of Firefighter in saving lives and property.
• Must comply with Kilkenny County Council’s Crew Management Arrangements for Retained Firefighters.
• Attend Training Courses as directed.
• Undertake driving duties as required.
• Carry a Fire Brigade pocket alerter at all times and keep it in proper working order.
• Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fires and emergencies to protect life and property.
• Operate firefighting equipment and carry out fire suppression activities.
• Assist in keeping the Fire Station clean and well maintained.
• Co-operate with all National and Local Fire Service agreements and procedures.
