Job summary

Medforce in Westmeath is seeking an Occupational Therapist – Adult Mental Health to join an inpatient facility. You will provide recovery-focused OT assessments and interventions to adults admitted to the in-patient unit, working within a multidisciplinary team to help service users regain daily living skills, independence, and community integration.

Staff and Senior grades are welcome. The role requires CORU registration and a relevant degree; experience in mental health is desirable.

Qualifications

• CORU registration is required.
• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Experience in mental health or related area desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out comprehensive OT assessments of occupational performance, function, and recovery needs.
• Plan and implement individualised treatment programmes using evidence-based, recovery-oriented approaches.
• Facilitate both individual and group interventions (e.g., life skills, creative therapy, social skills, sensory regulation).
• Support service users in developing skills for self-care, productivity, leisure, and community living.
• Contribute to discharge planning, including community liaison, home assessments, and activity-based recovery planning.
• Maintain high professional standards in documentation, confidentiality, and record keeping.
• Provide specialist OT input to holistic treatment and recovery plans.
• Work collaboratively with service users, families/carers, and external agencies to support recovery.

• Experience in outcome measurement tools (e.g., MOHOST, COPM, OCAIRS).
