Job summary

Ability West in Galway is seeking a qualified nurse to join a team delivering person-centred support to individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism. The role focuses on safety, choice, and empowerment within an inclusive setting.

You will participate in person-centred planning, attend team meetings, and deliver community-based activities while growing professionally through on-the-job training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Posession of a nursing qualification and current registration.
• Experience of working with people with an intellectual disability.
• Full current driving licence with access to your own vehicle is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Flexibility and the capacity to embrace change in response to the identified needs of people we support.

Services provided are day, residential, short breaks, community supports, rehabilitative training and multi-disciplinary supports. Role

We are looking for a qualified nurse who will be flexible and adapt to the needs of the individuals we support. Open to change and aims to provide a safe, secure environment where individuals will participate in community and leisure activities, make choices and enjoy a lifestyle that fulfils their potential and expectations with the opportunity for new experiences.

If successful you will be required to work in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy, participate in person-centred planning, individual reviews, team meetings, attend and participate in training courses, and actively contribute to team based performance management.

Essential Criteria

• Possession of a nursing or recognised nursing qualification e.g. R.N.I.D., R.G.N, S.R.N., R.P.N., including current registration with An Bord Altranais agus Cnaimhseachais na hEireann.


• Experience of working with people with an intellectual disability.


• Full current driving license with access to your own vehicle is desirable.


• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team


• Flexibility and the capacity to embrace change in response to the identified needs of people we support.
