Job summary

Palmira Limited is currently seeking a Carpenter (New Entrant) to join our team on residential and/or commercial construction projects. This role suits candidates with basic carpentry knowledge and a desire to start a formal career in the trade.

Full on-the-job training will be provided under the supervision of qualified tradespeople. The position offers 40-hour weeks and begins on 23/11/2026, with the opportunity to contribute to diverse building tasks while developing skills in a supportive

Qualifications

No formal qualification required.
Prior basic carpentry exposure is advantageous but not essential.
Willingness to learn and develop skills through supervised work.
Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
Basic understanding of site safety and use of PPE is desirable.
Physical fitness and manual dexterity appropriate for construction work.

Responsibilities

Examines drawings and specifications to determine job requirements.
Selects and measures appropriate wood and cuts, shapes and drills to specification using saws, planes, chisels and other power or hand tools.
Aligns and fixes prepared wood pieces by screwing, nailing, gluing and dowelling to form frames, shop fronts, conter units, decking, theatrical sets, furniture, small wooden craft, scale models and wooden templates.
Checks accuracy of work with square, rule and spirit level.
Maintains and repairs woodwork and fittings
