Job summary

Gallant Homes Limited in Rathcoole, Co. Dublin, is seeking a Carpenter – New Entrant to join our team on residential and commercial projects. This role is ideal for candidates with basic carpentry exposure who want a formal career in the trade.

Full on-the-job training provided under supervision of qualified tradespeople. You will examine drawings, measure and cut wood to specification, fit parts, check accuracy, and maintain woodwork while prioritising site safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• No formal qualification required; basic carpentry exposure is advantageous but not essential.
• Willingness to learn and develop skills through supervised work.
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
• Basic understanding of site safety and use of PPE is desirable.
• Physical fitness and manual dexterity appropriate for construction work.

Responsibilities

• Examines drawings and specifications to determine job requirements.
• Selects and measures wood and cuts, shapes and drills to specification using saws, planes, chisels and other power or hand tools.
• Aligns and fixes prepared wood pieces by screwing, nailing, gluing and dowelling to form frames, shop fronts, counter units, decking, theatrical sets, furniture, small wooden craft, scale models and wooden templates.
• Checks accuracy of work with square, rule and spirit level.
• Maintains and repairs woodwork and fittings.

Job Description: Gallant Homes Limited is currently seeking a Carpenter (New Entrant) to join our team working on residential and/or commercial construction projects. This position is suitable for candidates who have basic knowledge or informal experience in carpentry and are looking to start a formal career in the trade. Full on-the-job training will be provided under the supervision of qualified tradespeople.
