Job description

PE Global, together with our well established residential home client, are looking for an ADON to join their team in Cork.

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) will support the Director of Nursing in the day-to-day clinical and operational management of the nursing home, ensuring a high standard of evidence-based care in line with HIQA regulations (2024), company policies, and national standards. The ADON will play a key role in quality improvement, governance, compliance, staff management, and resident wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director of Nursing in leading and supervising the delivery of person-centred, evidence-based nursing care.
  • Ensure compliance with HIQA standards, national health policies, and all relevant legislation.
  • Oversee infection prevention and control measures and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
  • Support, supervise, and mentor nursing and care staff, promoting professional development.
  • Participate in recruitment, rostering, performance appraisals, and team leadership.
  • Act as a key contact for residents and families, ensuring dignity, autonomy, and choice.
  • Assist with audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives, deputising for the DON as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) – active registration required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ post-registration experience in nursing management/nursing home or similar aged care setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HIQA Standards, the National Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People in Ireland, and relevant legislation.
  • Leadership training and/or a management qualification (e.g., QQI Level 6 in Management) is desirable.
