Job summary

Meili is seeking a highly skilled Native Engineer to build and maintain native iOS and Android experiences for travellers. You will own features from concept to release, collaborate with product, design and engineering, and optimize performance and stability across platforms.

You’ll work with APIs, JSON data, and state management, and apply UX best practices using tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD to deliver polished apps. Hybrid working and strong engineering culture are embraced.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in native mobile development.
• Proficiency with at least one major mobile SDK (iOS or Android) and state management.
• Experience with APIs and JSON data in client apps.
• Strong UX sense and ability to translate designs into code.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain native features across our iOS / Android SDKs, from definition through to release.
• Collaborate with product, design and engineering to define and refine mobile requirements.
• Integrating with backend APIs and managing state across native applications.
• Profiling and improving app performance, including startup time, memory use and battery impact.
• Handling app store submissions, versioning and release processes for iOS / Android.
• Maintaining a consistent, high quality experience across platforms while adhering to brand guidelines.
• Applying accessibility standards and mobile UX best practices to create polished, functional apps.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly motivated, self-starting Native Engineer with a passion for building great native mobile experiences. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining our native iOS and Android applications, working closely with product, design and engineering to deliver fast, reliable and polished experiences for travellers. In this role you will:

• Build and maintain native features across our iOS / Android SDKs, from definition through to release
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to turn designs and requirements into performant native code
• Take ownership of app quality, performance and stability, from testing through to release

About You

• Extensive experience in native mobile development.
• Proficiency with at least one major mobile SDK (iOS or Android) and state management
• Strong mobile development skills
• Experience working with APIs, JSON data, and managing state in client-side applications
• Solid understanding of UX principles, wireframing, and experience working from visual design tools (such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with micro-interactions to enhance user experience
• Experience working across both iOS and Android, whether through direct platform experience or by using AI tools to work confidently in a second platform
• Understanding of accessibility standards and experience with inclusive user interfaces
• Knowledge of mobile-first and responsive design, and experience with Flutter, Capacitor or other mobile frameworks
• Familiarity with UX research methods and usability testing
