Job summary

Search Talent is seeking an experienced Senior Modern Workplace Engineer to implement, configure, and support Microsoft 365 and Modern Workplace solutions for its customers.

This senior, hands-on engineering role focuses on deploying, configuring, optimising, and supporting secure Modern Workplace environments across Microsoft 365, Intune, Entra ID, Microsoft Defender, Copilot enablement, and Purview, ensuring solutions are technically robust, well documented, and delivered to a high standard.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in Modern Workplace, Microsoft Cloud, infrastructure or endpoint engineering.
• Hands-on experience delivering migrations, security, and compliance initiatives.
• Experience in MSP or multi-customer environments is advantageous.
• Strong documentation, planning and delivery-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Implement, configure, maintain, and support Modern Workplace solutions across Microsoft 365 environments.
• Provide senior technical support and governance for Copilot readiness and Purview controls.
• Lead workshops, assessments, and planning sessions with concrete input and estimates.
• Produce clear technical documentation and customer handover materials.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.

Job description

My client is seeking an experienced Senior Modern Workplace Engineer to implement, configure, and support Microsoft 365 and Modern Workplace solutions for its customers.

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role focused on deploying, configuring, optimising, and supporting secure Modern Workplace environments. The successful candidate will work across Microsoft 365, Intune, Entra ID, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Copilot enablement, and Microsoft Purview, ensuring solutions are technically robust, well documented, and delivered to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement, configure, maintain, and support Modern Workplace solutions across Microsoft 365 environments.
• Provide senior technical support and engineering expertise across:
• Microsoft Copilot readiness, enablement, configuration, and governance support
• Data governance and compliance using Microsoft Purview
• Secure, cloud-first workplace implementation and support
• Deliver hands‑on technical implementation work, including:
• Microsoft 365 migrations, tenant deployments, and configuration
• Microsoft Intune and endpoint management deployments
• Microsoft Copilot enablement and user adoption support
• Microsoft Purview implementation, including DLP, sensitivity labels, information protection, and retention policies
• Implement identity, access, and security controls, including:
• Conditional Access
• MFA
• Identity governance
• Microsoft Defender technologies across endpoint, identity, email, and cloud services
• Participate in technical workshops, assessments, and planning sessions by providing practical engineering input.
• Support project scoping and technical planning by providing implementation input, effort estimates, and practical delivery considerations.
• Produce clear technical documentation, implementation plans, knowledge transfer materials, and customer handover documentation.
• Mentor junior engineers, contribute to internal knowledge sharing, and support the continuous improvement of the Company's Modern Workplace engineering standards.

Skills & Technical Expertise

Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365 services, including:

• Exchange Online
• SharePoint
• Teams
• OneDrive

Strong technical capability in Microsoft Intune, endpoint management, device compliance, application deployment, and modern desktop management.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, identity management, access controls, Conditional Access, and MFA.

Hands‑on experience implementing and supporting solutions across:

• Microsoft Copilot readiness, enablement, configuration, adoption support, and governance controls
• Microsoft Purview, including data loss prevention, sensitivity labelling, information protection, retention, and compliance controls

Good working knowledge of:

• Security principles, best practices, and Microsoft cloud security controls
• Microsoft Defender technologies and their role in securing modern workplace environments
• PowerShell scripting and automation would be advantageous

Experience

Typically, 5+ years' experience in a Modern Workplace, Microsoft Cloud, infrastructure, or endpoint engineering role.

Proven experience delivering hands‑on technical implementations, migrations, support improvements, and operational enhancements.

Experience working within an MSP, infrastructure, endpoint, or multi-customer technical support environment.

Demonstrated experience supporting or delivering technical activities such as:

• Microsoft 365 migrations, tenant configuration, and service optimisation
• Security, identity, endpoint, and compliance initiatives
• Microsoft Copilot enablement, AI readiness support, data governance, and information protection activities

Certifications – Desirable

Microsoft Azure, Security, or AI certifications such as:

• AZ-500
• SC-100
• SC-200
• SC-300
• SC-401
• Equivalent Microsoft certifications

Microsoft Endpoint Administrator certification, such as MD-102, would be advantageous.

Relevant Microsoft Copilot, AI, Modern Workplace, or compliance certifications would also be beneficial.
