Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a senior Mine Waste Engineer to join its Mining and Metals team. The role involves delivering mine waste projects, leading design and assessment activities, and supporting international assignments across Ireland and beyond.

You will work with a diverse group of engineers and scientists, mentoring junior staff and contributing to client-facing technical reports and proposals. A strong focus on soil mechanics and geotechnical excellence is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified within civil engineering, geotechnical engineering or engineering geology.
• Strong emphasis on soil mechanics and related geotechnical work.
• Chartered professional with a relevant body.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mine waste projects, including design and inspection of storage facilities.
• Lead and contribute to design and assessment of tailings and related facilities.
• Provide technical input on tailings, water impoundments, waste rock dumps, and soil mechanics.
• Mentor scientists, engineers and colleagues within the Mine Waste team.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings, and cost estimates.
• Travel within Ireland and internationally as required.
