Job summary

Merck in Ireland is seeking a Metrology Specialist for our Dunboyne facility to manage calibration and maintenance of analytical instruments in a GMP environment. You will contribute to the global quality program and ensure readiness for internal audits and regulatory inspections.

The role requires hands-on troubleshooting, strong scientific acumen, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science or Technical field; MSc/PhD desirable.
• Hands-on troubleshooting of laboratory instruments essential.
• Think logically and stay proactive under pressure.
• Team player with effective communication and technical depth.

Responsibilities

• Support calibration and maintenance program for analytical instruments within GMP.
• Review and approve calibration, maintenance and validation data.
• Maintain instruments in inspection-ready state and manage metrics.
• Coordinate external vendor engineers for calibration activities.
• Lead SOPs and deviation investigations and support audits.
