Job summary

Coffey is seeking an experienced MEICA Project Manager to lead water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will drive delivery from inception to completion, coordinate site teams and manage subcontractors to meet schedule, budget and safety standards.

The role requires strong technical, commercial, and leadership skills, with a focus on compliant project execution and client relationship management. Based in Ireland, Dublin area, with this senior leadership responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Project Manager delivering water and wastewater projects within a framework environment.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary site teams including Site Agents, Construction Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, subcontractors and MEICA personnel.
  • Proven track record of delivering engineering projects safely, on programme and within budget.
  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasting, procurement, subcontractor coordination and contract administration.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to effectively engage with clients, consultants, suppliers and site teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from inception through to completion.
  • Plan, manage and coordinate all construction activities to ensure programme, budget and quality objectives are achieved.
  • Determine resource requirements including labour, plant, equipment, subcontractors and materials throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Ensure all contractual obligations and project requirements are met throughout delivery.
  • Provide regular project updates to senior management on programme, financial performance, risks and opportunities.
  • Develop project budgets, cost forecasts and resource plans.
  • Monitor project performance against commercial and financial targets.
  • Oversee procurement activities and liaise with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements with suppliers and subcontractors where required.
  • Ensure project variations, scope changes and notifications are managed appropriately.
  • Support project profitability through effective planning, risk management and commercial control.
  • Lead and coordinate site teams, subcontractors and MEICA personnel.
  • Supervise construction activities and provide guidance and support to project teams.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, local authorities and key stakeholders.
  • Represent Coffey at project meetings and ensure clear communication across all parties.
  • Obtain required permits, licences and approvals to facilitate project delivery.
  • Promote business development opportunities through strong client relationships.
  • Manage, mentor and develop engineers, supervisors and junior technical staff.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Identify training requirements and coordinate development initiatives with the HSQE department.
  • Foster professional growth within project teams and support succession planning objectives.
  • Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance across all project activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Coffey HSQE management systems, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the Safety Statement is implemented and maintained across project sites.
  • Support risk management activities and the implementation of safe systems of work.
  • Monitor project quality standards and ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure projects comply with all statutory, legal and environmental obligations.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven MEICA Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across a diverse portfolio of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (MEICA) works.

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will take full responsibility for the safe, efficient and commercial delivery of projects from commencement through to completion. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will lead site teams, coordinate subcontractors and stakeholders, and ensure projects are delivered on programme, within budget and to the highest quality and safety standards.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical and commercial expertise with proven leadership skills, a proactive approach to project delivery and a commitment to developing high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery

About You
Essential Requirements
  • Education: Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience as a Project Manager delivering water and wastewater projects within a framework environment.
  • Leadership: Experience managing multidisciplinary site teams including Site Agents, Construction Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, subcontractors and MEICA personnel.
  • Project Delivery: Proven track record of delivering engineering projects safely, on programme and within budget.
  • Commercial Awareness: Experience managing project budgets, forecasting, procurement, subcontractor coordination and contract administration.
  • Communication: Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to effectively engage with clients, consultants, suppliers and site teams.
  • Driving Licence: Full clean Irish, UK or EU driving licence.
  • Right to Work: Candidates must have an existing legal right to work in Ireland. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Desirable
  • Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards chartership.
  • Membership of a recognised professional engineering institution.
  • Experience delivering MEICA projects within the water and wastewater sector.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts and framework agreements.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
  • Familiarity with project control, reporting and forecasting systems.
