Job summary

Natus Medical Incorporated in Ireland seeks a Systems Mechanical Research Engineer to join our R&D team in Gort, Co. Galway.

This full-time, on-site role focuses on early-stage research and development of neurodiagnostic and medical device technologies to improve patient outcomes worldwide. You will conduct feasibility studies, design, build and test prototypes, and collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software and usability teams to translate user needs into practical engineering solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 0-3 years of engineering experience (internships, co-ops acceptable)
• Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo)
• Hands-on prototype development and lab testing
• Strong analytical and communication skills; able to work in multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities

• Conduct mechanical and electromechanical feasibility studies for innovative product concepts
• Design, build, and test prototypes to evaluate technical solutions
• Support system-level design across mechanical, electrical, software, usability, and manufacturing disciplines
• Perform engineering analysis, experimentation, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigations
• Evaluate materials, sensors, actuators, and electromechanical subsystems
• Develop and execute engineering test plans and document findings and recommendations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate user and business needs into engineering solutions
• Support product architecture decisions through testing, analysis, and data-driven recommendations
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and technical evaluations throughout product development
• Contribute to multiple R&D initiatives in a dynamic environment
